Terms of Service
Welcome to UNID. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. Read them carefully — they cover how we handle identifications, points, payments, content you post, and account termination.
1. Who we are
UNID (“we”, “us”) operates unid.dev — a crowdsourced track-identification desk for underground music. The service is provided “as is.” We may change features, pricing, or policies at any time; we’ll notify active users by email before meaningful changes take effect.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. In some jurisdictions the minimum is higher — follow local law.
- You’re responsible for keeping your credentials private. Don’t share your login.
- One account per person. Multiple accounts used to farm points or circumvent moderation may be suspended.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. When you request account deletion, your account is scheduled for permanent deletion. Your data is held for 7 days so you can cancel if you change your mind. After 7 days, your account and associated data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Certain records may be retained longer where required by law (e.g. payment records for tax purposes).
3. Content you post
You retain ownership of anything you post — case descriptions, clips you record for identification, lead submissions, comments. You grant UNID a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, store, and transmit that content strictly to operate the service.
What not to post:
- Copyrighted audio you don’t have rights to share publicly (short clips for identification are handled separately — see section 4).
- Hate speech, harassment, doxxing, or targeted abuse.
- Spam, shilling, or affiliate schemes.
- Illegal content or solicitations of illegal acts.
We moderate reported content. Repeat violations lead to suspension.
4. Audio identification
When you submit audio for identification (via mic recording, file upload, or URL), we forward a short fingerprint to our identification partner. Audio files uploaded through the large-file path are stored briefly in a secure bucket and deleted within 30 hours. We don’t retain, re-host, or redistribute your audio.
Artist uploads (adding your own tracks to the custom library) are governed by a rights-confirmation checkbox. Submitting audio you don’t own rights to violates these Terms and may trigger a DMCA process.
5. Points + payments
Points are an in-service credit used to post cases and unlock features. Points can be earned by solving cases, received as a signup bonus, or purchased through Stripe. Purchased points are non-refundable except where required by law. Points have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.
Recurring subscriptions (if offered) are clearly labeled at checkout. Cancel any time from Settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
6. DMCA + copyright
If you believe content on UNID infringes your copyright, see our DMCA pagefor the takedown process and our registered agent’s contact info. We respond to properly-formatted notices promptly. Repeat infringers are banned.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may terminate your own account at any time. On termination, your content is removed per section 2.4 (account deletion).
8. Disclaimers
UNID is provided “as is” without warranty. We don’t guarantee that identifications are accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that results meet any specific purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UNID is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where UNID is incorporated. Disputes are handled in that jurisdiction’s courts, unless local consumer-protection law grants you a stronger forum.
